Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani submits his resignation to the governor

Gandhinagar: The chief minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani, tendered his resignation on Saturday. He tendered his resignation to Governor of Gujarat Acharya Devvrat to Raj Bhavan.

Rupani, after his resignation, reportedly said it was a great honor for him to be the chief minister of Gujarat for five years.

“The responsibilities within the party must continue to change over time. It is a natural process within the party. I had the responsibility of being the chief minister for five years, it was a great opportunity.”, did he declare.

Rupani was sworn in as Chief Minister on August 7, 2016.

He retained the constituency of Rajkot West by defeating Congress candidate Indranil Rajyaguru in the 2017 Gujarat Assembly elections.

Rupani was unanimously elected leader of the legislative party on December 22, 2017, and continued as chief minister with Nitin Patel as deputy.

According to sources, the names of Mansukh Mandaviya, Parshottam Khodabhai Rupala, C.R. Patil, and Nitin Patel are circulating in the post of the chief minister.

The script for Vijay Rupani’s change was written in December of last year. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had reported against Vijay Rupani, after which it was decided that the party would change its chief minister. Rupani was then informed that after the completion of five years, the party would announce a new chief minister of the state.

On August 7, Rupani completed five years as chief minister of Gujarat, after which a BJP leader told ABP News his early resignation. However, constant talks continued at the party’s high command, and, for once, it looked like Rupani would be able to hold his ground.

BJP central leadership reportedly sent the BJP general secretary to Gandhinagar earlier this week, who then decided on the time and date of Rupani’s resignation.
