Daurala Station Passengers Push Train Away From Burning Engine, No Casualties In Fire Incident

A fire broke out in the engine and two coaches of the Saharanpur-Delhi passenger train today while it was stopped at the Daurala station in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh.

Daurala Station Passengers were seen pushing the train in a bid to separate the rest of the compartments from the engine and two compartments on which the fire broke out in a video shared by news agency ANI on Twitter.

The video shows several passengers, along with the railway station staff, pushing the train away from the blazing coaches and the engine to prevent a tragedy.

The train numbered 04460 was going from Saharanpur to Delhi.

Later, firefighters put out the fire at the Daurala station, officials said, adding that rail traffic was briefly disrupted. No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident and the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, they said.

“Dimpy Garg, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) in Delhi, said the train departed from Saharanpur, adding the information regarding sparks in the train was received near Daurala,”

The fire started in the fourth motor coach. The blazing coach was separated from the rest of the train and traffic was stopped in the section, said Garg.

“He added that the passengers were sent in the next mail train.”
