Cyclone Tauktae: Red Alert in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala; Posted by NDRF Teams

The IMD has warned of heavy rains in parts of Maharashtra, Kerala and Gujarat due to the massive Cyclone Tauktae, which builds over the Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep.

India’s Department of Meteorology (IMD) on Friday said there had been some tensions in the Lakshadweep area, which would continue as a typhoon within the next 24 hours and move to the coast of Gujarat.

The IMD has warned of heavy rainfall for parts of Maharashtra, Kerala and Gujarat in view of the rapid intensification of Cyclone Tauktae, which formed over the Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep.

The storm will focus on the same region on Saturday morning and continue to be stronger than the storm the next day.

In Kerala, Chellanam, a coastal village in Ernakulam, has been one of the most affected areas since Thursday. Several houses were damaged as seawater was flooded, and locals cried.
