Covid update: India Records 44,658 New Corona Cases As Kerala Continues To Report Over 30,000 Infections In Last 24 Hours

Covid update: The country’s recovery rate currently stands at 97.60% as 32,988 patients recovered in the last 24 hours.

Covid update: India has recorded more than 40,000 cases of coronavirus for the second day in a row. The country has reported 44,658 new cases in the past 24 hours. Active cases represent 1.06% of the total cases. India’s active workload stands at 3,899.

The country’s cure rate currently stands at 97.60%, with 32,988 patients having recovered in the past 24 hours.

India has recorded 496 deaths in the past 24 hours, according to the health ministry.

Total number of cases: 3,26,03,188

Total recoveries: 3,18,21,428

Active cases: 3,44,899

Number of deaths: 4,36,861

Total vaccinated: 61,22,08,542 (79,48,439) in the last 24 hours

Kerala reports 30,000 cases for 2nd day in a row

Kerala has reported more than 30,000 new cases of Covid for the second day in a row. In the past 24 hours, the state recorded 30,007 cases, 18,997 recoveries, and 162 deaths. With this, the number of active cases has increased to 1,81,209 while the test positivity rate (TPR) stands at 18.03%, reports the PTI.

Kerala saw a sudden spike in new cases on Wednesday with 31,445 people testing positive and 215 deaths. The TPR jumped to 19.03% from 18.04% on Tuesday.

The last time the state crossed the 30,000 marks was on May 20, when it recorded 30,491 cases of Covid.

Maharashtra sees a slight increase in Covid cases

Maharashtra reported 5,108 new cases of Covid-19, slightly more than Wednesday, and 159 deaths on Thursday. The new wave brought the state’s infection count to 64,428,888 and the death toll to 1,36,730.

Mumbai, meanwhile, with 397 new cases of Covid-19, recorded its highest daily count in nearly a month.
