Center orders NIA to look into the Horror Udaipur murder, and CM Ashok Gehlot to hold a review

Udaipur Murder: On Wednesday, the Home Ministry ordered the National Inquiry Agency (NIA) to take over the investigation into the savage murder of a tailor in Udaipur and look into any organization’s involvement and any connections to other countries.

“MHA has directed the National Probe Agency (NIA) to take over the investigation of the barbaric murder of Shri Kanhaiya Lal Teli committed at Udaipur, Rajasthan, yesterday,” the MHA spokesperson wrote on their Twitter account.

“Any organization’s involvement and any connections to other countries will be carefully looked into.”

Two people were detained by Rajasthan police on Tuesday night in connection with the horrific murder in Udaipur. The people who were detained have been identified as Gos Mohammad, Rafiq Mohammed’s son, and Riaz, Abdul Jabbar’s son, both of whom live in the Surajpol neighbourhood of Udaipur.

On Wednesday, curfew remained in effect in seven city neighbourhoods near police stations, and mobile Internet connectivity had been blocked in all 33 districts of Rajasthan.

A day after the brutal murder of Kanhaiya Lal, the tailor, by two men who claimed in online recordings that they were retaliating for an insult to Islam, there has been a significant increase in police presence in the city. The district government hospital’s mortuary is currently conducting a postmortem on the body, according to the police.

In order to examine the situation, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, who was previously in Jodhpur, has returned to Jaipur, according to government sources.

“You see, this is a huge, horrific incident. The SIT has been established, and it has already begun working. The news will show who was killed, what their plans were, what the plot was, to whom there is a link, and whether there is any such agency, both national and international, to which there is a link.

“As a result, we take it seriously. As long as it is not connected to radical elements on a national or international scale, it cannot occur. This is what the evidence indicates. Its probe has thus been launched, according to Gehlot.

The episode has already been used by the BJP to criticise the Congress, which is now in charge in Rajasthan.

On Wednesday, the BJP questioned whether Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi will go to Kanhaiya Lal’s house to question Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot about the heinous murder.

Additionally, the BJP asked if they would stage a demonstration against Ashok Gehlot, the “nikamma” (useless) chief minister.

C.T. Ravi, the party’s national general secretary, tweeted, “Will Hathras vultures Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi visit the residence of Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur?”

“Will they voice their displeasure with Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Nikamma, for his abject failure? Will they call for his resignation over the two Muslims’ heinous murder of a Hindu?”

P.C. Mohan, a BJP Lok Sabha member, tweeted: “Rajasthan’s law and order apparatus has failed completely. Ashok Gehlot no longer has the moral authority to rule. He must step down. We demand that the NIA look into the horrifying beheading of Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur and the threats made against Prime Minister Modi.”
