Cancel CBSE class 12 exams, parents submit application to SC as Covid-19 cases increase across the country

He asked the high court to cancel the May 18 notice on CBSE when the date for the remaining Class XII exams was announced and to stay until the application was decided by the court.

NEW DELHI: An application has been made to the Supreme Court for the revocation of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) notice by conducting the remaining Class XII examinations from July 1 to July 15 amid an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases nationwide. The application, filed by some parents of students from class XII, sought guidance from the CBSE to announce the results on the basis of the tests already conducted and to calculate the average of the remaining internal exam scores.

To raise concerns about the safety of student lakhs, the application said they could be exposed to COVID-19 infection if they had to appear in tests during an increase in the number of cases of HIV infection.
He asked the high court to cancel the May 18 notice on CBSE when the date for the remaining Class XII exams was announced and to stay until the application was decided by the court.

This application is indicated and will indicate the extent of the CBSE respondent’s discriminatory conduct by issuing notice of the remainder of the trial and that by July 2020, when the details of the AIIMS data, COVID-19 are reported, will be of the highest standard, “the application said.
It suspects that in view of the seriousness of the COVID-19 epidemic, CBSE has canceled Class X and XII testing at its approximately 250 overseas schools and adopted a system of awarding marks on the basis of practical tests or internal examination marks.

It is very unfortunate that the respondents (CBSE and the Department of Human Development) here have no real concern about putting their lives at risk for all the students in India and have no meaning if they insist on taking this test in India, “he urged.
It states that in April this year, the CBSE instructed schools to develop students in classes IX and XI in the next grades based on school tests.

It says that on May 25, the Department of Labor and Development announced plans to test Class X and XII students at nearly 15,000 test centers as 3,000 previously used centers.
“Ensuring proper hygiene and safety standards as defined by the concerned government in the case of COVID-19 in those 15,000 testing centers across the country, including in the rural areas, will not only be dangerous to children’s health and well-being but also irresponsible,” he said.
It said that even if it was not considered that 50 percent of the cases of coronavirus were known, students, who would appear in the tests, could be activities that could be very dangerous for them and their family members.
The complaint stated that a number of educational institutions by the Premier, such as the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), had also canceled their exams, including those for final year students due to the flu epidemic.
The application also raised concerns about the issue where the testing center may fall within the context of the COVID-19 content.
