CA Exams 2021 Update: The Supreme Court of India, SC heard the plea on the postponement of Chartered Accountancy Reviews, CA 2021 today. Even though final orders are expected at tomorrow’s hearing, the SC is in favor of CA candidates having an opt-out option. At the same time, the Chamber even raised points related to the RT-PCR certificate and the change of examination center.
A bench of judges AM Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwari and Aniruddha Bose, asked the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) whether alternative methods other than the RT-PCR certificate can be adopted to assess whether a candidate is medically unfit to take the CA exams. -scheduled to start on July 5 due to difficulties with COVID-19. Further the effects of COVID-19 can be long lasting, and that a simple negative result in the RTPCR certificate may not reflect the suitability of the candidate.
The House has even heard arguments about vaccination and examination centers. He observed that the institute, that is to say, cannot be held responsible for the vaccination of candidates. However, he claimed that if there is a change of exam center at the last minute, the candidate may be allowed to withdraw from the exams.
Now, the judiciary has requested that a SOP be filed in court tomorrow so that a final order can be made. Judge Khanwilkar said: “Please file your pledge by today and we will have the case tomorrow.”
The SOP to be filed with the Court will take into account the following points:
Alternative options for the status of the RT-PCR certificate.
Examiners who are going to take the exam must take the RTPCR tests before the exam date.
Ensure that examination centers are not used for other purposes such as the wedding function and that their exclusivity is maintained.
If in the middle of the exam a candidate suffers from Covid, they should be allowed to take the remaining tests in the next cycle.
In the event of a last-minute change of examination center, the possibility of selecting another examination center or of withdrawing must be given to the candidate.
The hearing would continue tomorrow and the final orders are expected to be made. According to the published schedule, the CA, 2021 final exams would start from July 5 and run until July 19.
