Asus ROG Phone 5s, ROG Phone 5s Pro with Snapdragon 888 Plus introduced, prices start at around Rs 80,000

Asus is taking his best time to bring the Zenfone 8 and Zenfone 8 Flip to India despite the great need. However, in its home market, Taiwan, Asus seems to have big plans.

More than four months after launching its first ROG Phone 5, Asus has now launched the ROG Phone 5s series.

The new ROG Phone 5s include two phones, the ROG Phone 5s and the ROG Phone 5s Pro, and both are only minor improvements with the ROG Phone 5 and the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate Edition.

The biggest change here is the processor. The new ROG Phone 5s and ROG Phone 5s Pro use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus processor, which is a larger version of the Snapdragon 888.

As ROG phones represent the latest and greatest you can get on a smartphone, the ROG Phone 5s and ROG Phone 5s Pro will cater for gamers.

The design of the two phones is almost identical to the original ROG Phone 5, but there are some minor changes in design that you will only see when both phones are stored separately.

Asus ROG Phone 5s, price of ROG Phone 5s Pro


The Asus ROG Phone 5s cost TWD 29,990 (approximately Rs 80,000) with a base variant with 16GB RAM and 256GB storage.

However, the second difference with 18GB RAM and 512GB internal storage costs TWD 33,990 (approximately Rs 90,000).

You get color options for Phantom Black and Aurora White. The ROG Phone 5s Pro costs TWD 37,990 (approximately Rs 1,00,000) with only 18GB RAM and 512GB storage configuration and comes in the only black line of Phantom.

The Asus ROG Phone 5s comes with a 6.78-inch Samsung E4 AMOLED display with the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, which achieves 144Hz refresh rate, 360Hz sample touch rate, maximum 1200 light brightness, and HDR content support and -HDR10 +.

The display does not have a notch or punch-hole, it is very similar to what other ROG phones have. The ROG Phone 5s is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus processor paired with 18GB of RAM.

Storage on the Asus ROG Phone 5s cannot be extended, so you can make better choices with different storage options. There’s an Adreno 660 GPU under the headset of high-end graphics.

Software-wise, Asus ROG Phone 5s has Android 11 with more ROG UI. You get a list of three cameras on the back of the phone.

There is a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 main camera, 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 5-megapixel macro camera.

For selfies, the ROG Phone 5s has a 24-megapixel camera on the top bezel. There is support for video recording up to 8K, which means that the camera experience may be good on the phone.

The Asus ROG Phone 5s has a 6000mAh battery, similar to the one in the ROG Phone 5, which supports 65W fast charging with a charger and 10W wireless charging.

As the name suggests, there are some Pro features in the ROG Phone 5s Pro. First, there is the second PAMOLED ROG Vision display on the back of the phone.

This display shows the date and time, incoming calls, battery charging, and other good features. This color display, unlike the black and white panel on the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate Edition.

Behind ROG Phone 5s Pro there are game controls to help you navigate your game. The ROG Phone 5s Pro box has an AeroActive Cooler 5 that delivers the external cooling sensor with dedicated button controls.

Asus also provides support for the accessories you get with ROG Phone 5 on ROG Phone 5s. Some specifications of the ROG Phone 5s Pro are similar to those of the ROG Phone 5s.
