Floods-Situation in the Northeast: After heavy rains, floods and landslides wreaked havoc in the Northeast. Thousands of people have been affected by this flood in Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh. Here, many people were left homeless, many people died, crops were destroyed, roads were destroyed and railway lines were disrupted. Due to the natural disaster that happened here, people are facing many difficulties. People are waiting for calm from this disaster by staying in relief camps.
In Assam and Meghalaya, 31 people have died in floods and landslides over the past two days. About 19 lakh people are affected in 28 districts of Assam, while about one lakh people are in relief camps. Of the total number of flood victims, 12 died in Assam and 19 in Meghalaya. So there is also information about severe flooding in Agartala, the capital of Tripura. The city received 145mm of rain in just 6 hours.

In Assam, nearly 3,000 villages were inundated and 43,000 hectares of agricultural land was submerged in water. Several embankments, culverts and roads were damaged. A boat carrying flood-affected people sank in Hojai district, leaving three children missing while 21 others were rescued. The Assam government has also organized special flights between Guwahati and Silchar for people stranded due to floods and landslides.
Meghalaya
Along with this, flash floods in Meghalaya also created a lot of commotion. Three deaths were reported in Baghmara in the South Garo Hills district and one in Siju due to a landslide. With this, CM Kanrad announced compensation for those killed in the natural calamity.
Tripura
More than 10,000 people have been left homeless in the state due to flooding following relentless rains in Tripura since Friday. The train service has therefore been interrupted for a month. Meanwhile, surface connectivity between Tripura and the rest of the country was interrupted on Thursday following landslides caused by heavy rains on National Highway 6, officials said. The anger of the floods is confined to Agartala and its neighborhood in West Tripura district, where the water level of the Howrah River has risen significantly and the Municipal Corporation of Agartala and its adjoining areas have been submerged.
Arunachal Pradesh
Water from the Subansiri River in neighboring Arunachal Pradesh overwhelmed a dam, which was being built for a hydroelectric project. Meghalaya, Assam, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim recorded extremely heavy rainfall in isolated locations and Nagaland and Tripura recorded heavy to very heavy rainfall.
Manipur
After one person died from flooding in Imphal West district of Manipur, the total death toll rose to seven. Rains eased in Imphal on Saturday morning but the situation in Thoubal, Imphal West and Bishnupur is not improving still not improving. A report released by the Department of Relief and Disaster Management says a fisherman died after drowning in the river on June 16 in Imphal West district. Large numbers of people are still stranded in flood-affected areas of the state. It was said in the report that the number of flood-damaged homes in the state rose to 22,624.
Mizoram
So far, 1,066 families have been moved to safer locations due to flooding in Mizoram. Officials from the state’s Department of Disaster Management and Rehabilitation released the information on June 15. Lunglei district in southern Mizoram was the most affected. The town of Talabung and neighboring villages are plagued by flooding. Officials said work to clear debris from State Route 54 was complete. Part of the road was washed away by the floods.
Heavy rains made a record
Officials said Mausinram and Cherrapunji in Meghalaya received record rainfall since 1940. Government sources said it was the third highest rainfall in Agartala in the past 60 years. All educational institutions were closed due to flash floods. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has announced compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the families of those killed in the floods.
