Arvind Kejriwal should wear ‘better clothes,’ says Punjab CM Charanjit Channi. Delhi CM responds

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal reacted to a comment from Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Channi.

During an exclusive interview with ABP Sanjha, Charanjit Channi was asked about Arvind Kejriwal’s comment that Congress had derided Punjab. Charanjit Channi answered with a question, asking if Kejriwal didn’t have a “suit-boot”.

“Do you have Rs 5,000? Everyone has it. Give it to him (Mr. Kejriwal) too … can’t he have nice clothes?” Channi said.

Delhi CM Kejriwal responded to the comment by highlighting the record of the Congress Party ahead of the legislative elections in Punjab.

“Channi sahib, you don’t like my clothes. No problem … leave the clothes. When are you going to keep those promises?” Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi.

“When are you going to give work to all the unemployed; When are you going to forgo farmer loans; Why not send those guilty of sacrilege (a reference to the 2015 desecration case) to jail; When will action be taken against corrupt ministers, deputies, and officers? “

Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is currently the main opposition party in Punjab and is doing its best to wrest power from Congress in the upcoming parliamentary elections. The party, which first ran in Punjab in the 2017 parliamentary elections, won 20 of 117 seats, while Congress won 77 seats. Last month, Kejriwal traveled to Punjab for a two-day tour.

“People don’t know where to go. The Chief Minister of Punjab should keep the promises made by Captain Amarinder Singh and act against corrupt ministers, MPs, and officers. The mastermind behind the sacrileges of 2015 should be reserved,” Kejriwal told reporters last month when he visited Chandigarh.

The latest ABP-CVoter survey found that the AAP could win around 55 seats in Punjab, slightly below the majority.
