Announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus with 3GHz CPU, advanced AI Engine in MWC 2021

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus SoC has announced the best calls to the MWC 2021. The new processor is a small upgrade to the Snapdragon 888 SoC and offers a clock speed of Qualcomm Kryo 680 CPU Prime core up to 3.0 GHz and fitted with a sixth-generation AQ Engine up to 32 TOPS (Tera Operations Per Second) AI performance, which the company says is better by more than 20 percent.

Apart from this, the new Spapdragon 888 Plus SoC is almost identical to its predecessor launched last December, and the new model looks to empower new flag launches in the second half of 2021.

The main difference is that the Snapdragon 888 Plus SoC has a Kryo 680 main clock with an upgraded speed of 2.995GHz.

The sixth-generation processor Qualcomm Hexagaon 780 AI processor is now able to deliver 32 TOPS instead of 26 TOPS on the standard Snapdragon 888 SoC.

Other than that, everything else the best remains unchanged. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus has an Adreno 660 GPU and a Snapdragon X60 5G modem with a speed of 7.5 Gbps over DL.

The Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 enables the latest Wi-Fi download rates. Qualcomm has announced that mobile phones based on the Snapdragon 888 Plus are expected to be announced in the third quarter of 2021.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 Plus has a Spectra 580 ISP that enables three-dimensional photography with the same processing up to 2.7 gigapixels per second.

It is capable of capturing three 28-megapixel images or three 4K HDR videos simultaneously, captures 120 fps 12-megapixel fps, provides automatic AI focus and auto-exposure, and the new low-light design required to help to take bright pictures, even in the dark.

The chipset also delivers 10-bit color depth to the HEIF format for capturing bright colors.

The Snapdragon 888 Plus supports full features of Snapdragon Elite Gaming features including Variable Rate Shading for faster graphics performance and Qualcomm Game Quick Touch to increase display response.

The chipset also provides Quick Charge 5 support which means it fully charges the phone in less than 15 minutes. Connection options include up to Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth v5.2, and NFC.

In addition, the chipset includes support for GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS, NavIC, and SBAS. The Snapdragon 888 Plus supports up to 4K display at 60Hz or QHD + at 144Hz. It also supports HDR and HDR10 + standards.
