Airtel Takes Over Jio, Launches 5G Test Network in Gurugram At 1 Gb / sec in Testing Stage

Bharti Airtel has launched a test 5G network on Instagram just over a month after the government gave the go-ahead to Indian carriers to test the next-generation mobile network technology, Gadgets 360 reports.

The telecommunications company provides a 5G network with a maximum speed of more than 1 GB / sec. The side where the test is currently running is in the 3500 MHz band.

Earlier this year, Airtel revealed that a 5G network using competitive spectrum operates in the 1800 Mhz band.

A test 5G network was launched live at the Instagram Cyber Center, according to Gadgets 360 ” a source familiar with the development.

Airtel tests are conducted in cooperation with the Swedish equipment manufacturer Ericsson.

In the first test, Airtel plans to conduct a similar test conducted in Mumbai in the next few days, as Gadgets 360 revealed.

Airtel offers a test 5G network with a speed of 1 GB / sec. This happens much faster than the consumer, as usual on the country’s 4G network.

According to Ookla, India ranks 130th in the world for mobile Internet speed with an average download speed of 12.81 Mb / s and download speed of 4.79 Mb / s.

At the moment, Airtel customers will not be able to test the 5G network in the process, even if you have a smartphone, and state laws do not allow them to test with end users.

Devices that allow operators to use these tests also require software updates from a manufacturer willing to test the network before rolling out to the public.

In May, the government allowed operators including Airtel, Jio, and Vodafone to begin rolling out the expected 5G trials in the country to equipment makers Ericsson, Nokia, and Samsung.

Airtel is receiving 5G test coverage in the 3500 MHz, 28 Ghz and 700 Mhz bands in Delhi/ NCR, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore, India.

Unlike Airtel, Jio, which is the largest carrier in the country, in terms of its user base, it is still possible to conduct official 5G trials in the country. ?????????? Last year’s operator also promised to test 5G in collaboration with Qualcomm at scale.

The company is also working with Ericsson, Nokia and Samsung to build their mobile devices to the 5G network in the country.

In December, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani said that Jio should launch its 5G services in the second half of 2021.

Airtel in January said it was the first telecommunications company in the country to successfully launch a commercial 5G network in Chicago, Illinois.

The operator said it conducted the demonstration using liberalized spectrum in the 1800 Mhz band, due to non-autonomous Network Technologies (NSA).
