Agneepath Scheme: The Delhi High Court has dismissed all the petitions challenging the Agnipath scheme.

Delhi High Court On Agnipath Scheme

The Delhi High Court has dismissed all the petitions challenging the Central Government’s Agnipath scheme. Rejecting the petitions, the court said, the purpose of bringing this scheme is to prepare our forces in a better way and it is in the interest of the country. On the other hand, those who were demanding appointment on the basis of the old policy, the court also rejected their demand saying that the demand is not justified.

In fact, petitions were filed challenging the Agneepath scheme in different parts of the country, after which the matter reached the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court transferred the hearing of all the cases to the Delhi High Court. Today in the Delhi High Court, a bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Subramaniam Prasad gave its verdict on the petitions. At the same time, while giving its argument, the Center had said that the Agneepath scheme is one of the biggest policy changes in Defense Recruitment . This will be a big change in the recruitment process in the army.

A division bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramaniam Prasad had reserved its order on 15 December. Actually, the recruitment of youth in the armed forces was started from June 14 last year. According to the rule of this scheme, people of 17 to 21 years are eligible to apply for this scheme. They will be inducted into the army for four years.

Six months is too little time – Argument of the petitioners

The petitioners claimed that the remaining 75 per cent candidates would be unemployed after four years and there was no plan for them. One of the petitioners who appeared argued on December 12- In six months, I have to develop physical stamina and learn to use weapons. Six months is a very short time. We are going to compromise on national security. There were also arguments about whether the four-year tenure of the Agniveers would count towards their overall service when a quarter of them join the army.
