Diwali 2021: The Supreme Court said on Friday that there was no total ban on the use of firecrackers, adding that only crackers containing barium salts or chemical crackers are banned.
The Supreme Court said no authority can be allowed to violate the instructions it issued and allow banned firecrackers under the guise of celebration, ANI reported.
Earlier Thursday, the Supreme Court said the ban on firecrackers must be strictly observed, as it is essential to protect the right to life.
The Supreme Court held that it was not against any parties or celebrations.
“We are not against any particular festival or celebration, but we cannot allow others to play,” a Supreme Bench of Justices MR Shah and AS Bopanna said.
“We do not want to hinder the enjoyment but for that, we can not play with the fundamental rights of others”, added the bench.
Emphasizing the enforcement of its previous orders, the Supreme Court said that the authorities responsible for the enforcement of orders must show more responsibility.
The Supreme Court was considering a petition alleging a violation of the order banning the use of certain dangerous chemicals and exceeding safe limits in the fireworks, Live Law reported.
The Supreme Court sighting preceded the Diwali 2021 holiday which will be celebrated on November 4.
