WhatsApp blocked more than 20 lakh users in India in August, according to a compliance report

A monthly compliance report for WhatsApp reveals that the messaging app blocked more than 20 lakh accounts in India in August.

The monthly compliance report also revealed that WhatsApp received 420 complaints in August. The Indian account is identified by a phone number +91.

One of the main reasons for the ban on 20,70,000 accounts is due to unauthorized use of default or bulk messages.

WhatsApp compliance data showed it received 420 user reports including account support (105), appeal blocking (222), further support (34), product support (42) and security (17) in August. However, in 421 reports, WhatsApp took action on 41 accounts.

WhatsApp on its support page has revealed that when it receives users’ complaints through a complaint channel, the messaging app uses tools and resources to prevent harmful behavior on the platform.

“This user safety report contains details of user complaints received and similar steps taken by WhatsApp, as well as WhatsApp’s security measures to combat harassment on our platform.

The majority of users who reach out to us intend for their account to be reinstated following the act of closing them or getting product or account help, “a WhatsApp spokesman said in a statement.

Earlier WhatsApp’s reported that it had blocked more than three million accounts in 46 days. Accounts were blocked between June 16 and July 31 to prevent cybercrime and to keep users safe on the platform.

WhatsApp has taken action against accounts that have broken the law due to reports and complaints they have received through complaints channels.

WhatsApp maintains a record of accounts with high or unusual messaging and prevents millions of such accounts from attempting this type of abuse in India and around the world.

More than 95 percent of accounts are involved in automatic or massive face blocking in India.

“Harassment detection applies to three stages of accounting behavior: when registering, during texting, and in response to negative feedback, which we receive through user reports and blocks.

A team of analysts is installing these systems to monitor end cases and help improve our performance over time, ”read a WhatsApp report.
