The Last Film Show is a Gujarati language film directed by Pan Nalin. The film was released in cinemas in October. It has left RRR and The Kashmir Files behind in the Oscar race.
Gujarati film Chhelo Show, India’s official entry for the Oscar Awards 2023, is now streaming on OTT after the theatrical release. The Pan Nalin-directed film left behind SS Rajamouli’s RRR and Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files in the race to be selected for the Oscars.
Both these films performed well at the box office. Also, the films were well appreciated on social media as well. Chhelo Show, also a biopic of director Pan Nalin, traces his childhood story, how a small-town kid falls in love with cinema. The film is streaming on Netflix from 25 November in Hindi and Gujarati languages.
Chhelo Show, when it became India’s official entry, drew comparisons to the Italian film Cinema Paradizzo, which shares a similar story with Chhelo Show. One of the posters of the film also seems to be inspired from the one of Cinema Paradiso. These films and documentaries that reached the Oscar Awards ceremony can be seen on OTT platforms.
