Uttarakhand: Cloudburst in Tehri’s Devprayag, several houses were damaged | Watch Video

Uttarakhand: Dozens of houses and shops were damaged by a typhoon in Tehri district in the Devprayag area on Tuesday. No injuries have been reported so far.

Relief and rescue teams have been rushed to the spot, a top police official said. 

“No injuries have been reported yet. SDRF factions are on their way,” media quoted DGP Ashok Kumar as saying.

“Cloudburst was reported at 5pm today. About 12-13 shops and other buildings were damaged. With many of these shops closed due to covid lockdown, no deaths have been reported yet. Water levels are rising here, rescue work is underway,” said MS Rawat, SHO Devprayag.

Homes in some villages and roads were damaged in two separate rainfall events in Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi in Uttarakhand district on May 3.

The chief minister also asked Public Works Department (PWD), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Border Roads Organisation (BRO) officials to immediately clear the blocked roads to ensure that the people in the affected areas do not face any inconvenience.

CM Tirath Singh Rawat had instructed the relevant regional magistrates to provide all possible assistance and the necessary financial assistance to the affected people.
