In a blog post, Twitter noted that it has mistakenly accepted verified requests and has now permanently suspended the accounts in question and removed their verified badge.
“We have taken a temporary break from granting access to the application for verification so that we can improve the application and review process.
For those who have been waiting, we know this can be disappointing. We want to make things right, and thank you for your patience, ”said Twitter with its confirmed Twitter handle.
While Twitter suggested that approving fake accounts was part of the botnet, former Facebook’s chief security officer, Alex Stamos, suggested that authentication could be an internal affair.

This is not the first time Twitter has suspended its verification program.
