Twitter pauses to verify accounts and after mistakenly assigning blue ticks to fake accounts

Twitter has also launched its newly launched verification program after handing out blue ticks to fake accounts. Twitter is currently suspending verification requests and will not allow young people to apply for verification, as the platform has seen it unknowingly verify many false accounts.

While Twitter suggested that approving fake accounts was part of the botnet, former Facebook’s chief security officer, Alex Stamos, suggested that authentication could be an internal affair.
