Tickets are booked by airline flights in order to recover money after due process: MakeMyTrip Manager

Air travelers who have booked flights to an airline that has applied for a crash, will only be reimbursed according to the evacuation procedure set by law in the area, MakeMyTrip official Rajesh Magow said in a statement on August 28.

Magow added that certain airlines – already suffering from financial difficulties – would still consider refunds for bookings that did not fall within the time frame set by the High Court.
In early October 2020, the high court accepted the recommendations of the Department of Civil Aviation and the Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), and ordered the aircraft to reimburse passengers for canceled airline tickets between March 25, 2020 to May 24, 2020.
Following this, the Department of Aviation Tourism (MoCA) in April 2021 expressed dissatisfaction with airlines that failed to pay refunds to passengers on airline tickets that were booked for departure during last year’s closure but were canceled.
A few months after reports, Rajesh Magow said they had disbursed more than Rs 642 crores in refunds last year and in the remaining 0.4% cases, they continue to closely monitor their partner’s flights on behalf of customers.

“We are very pleased that with the great effort made by our team over the past few months, approximately 99.6% contributed to bookings during the closing of the solution today,” said MakeMyTrip CEO Rajesh Magow.

Among other details, Magow shared a link to those customers who have not yet applied for a refund and are willing to do so. He also pointed out that COVID-19 had caused disruption and financial stress delays in refunds.
