The iPhone 14 Pro will feature the A16 Bionic based TSMC process at 5nm, says analyst Kuo

The Apple iPhone 14 series is expected to launch in September 2022. The company will launch four new versions of the iPhone 14, namely iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Pro models are said to be experiencing significant improvements, both structurally and internally. A new leak by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reveals some details about the performance unit of the iPhone 14.

Koo says the iPhone 14 Pro models will come with an A16 Bionic chip under the hood. While this is not surprising, the analyst revealed that Apple silicon will be based on a 5nm process.

The same technology was used in the iPhone 13 Pro models. It will be based on TSMC process of 5nm.

In addition, Koo claims that A16 Bionic will be based on the N5P logic node, which was used to produce the A15 Bionic. However, Apple will go ahead and call it the A16 Bionic chip for marketing purposes.

While the differences are not expected to be significant, Koo says the A16 Bionic will have improved performance and efficiency over the A15 Bionic. Non-Pro iPhone 14 models will provide an A15 Bionic chipset under the hood.

Some details of the iPhone 14 Pro have been leaked in the past. Apple is rumored to be offering three 48MP cameras with a LiDAR sensor on Pro models. The sensor size is said to be 57 percent larger than the iPhone 13 Pro camera types.

Pro models will also receive a punch hole and a pill-shaped cut at the top instead of a wide notch. The standard iPhone 14 models will continue to play the 20 percent smaller notch available in the iPhone 13 series.

Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 14 series in September. As with the latest update of the rumor mill, the launch date for the iPhone 14 is September 13. At Apple’s event, we may see other products being launched separately, including the Apple Watch Series 8.
