It seems that Redmi plans to add another smartphone to its Redmi K50 series as new leaks suggest the Ultra variant is being upgraded. The company unveiled the Redmi K50 and its Pro version in March this year.
It is now expected to unveil the Redmi K50 Ultra, but don’t expect it to come anytime soon.
Tipster Digital Chat Station has suggested to Weibo that the Redmi K50 Ultra will launch in the second half of the year. This means that the device can be announced at any time between July and December.
Note that Redmi has not yet confirmed the existence of the K50 Ultra model. But, the information comes from a reliable tipster, so the Ultra model could be on the way.
Tipster also says the Redmi K50 Ultra will be powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, which is not surprising as this will be the most advanced variant in the series.
This will also be the first Qualcomm-enabled phones in the Redmi K50 series as the standard version packs 4nm MediaTek Dimension 9000 SoC and 5nm MediaTek Dimension 8100 SoC.
The quoted source also confirmed that the upcoming Redmi K50 Ultra will come with 100W fast charging support. This is a bit surprising when you consider that Xiaomi offers 120W fast charging technology and other phones, including the Xiaomi 11i.
Interestingly, the Redmi’s K50 Pro model has a 5,000mAh battery unit supported by 120W fast charging, but a large premium may not. The standard model comes with a 67W fast charger.
The Redmi’s K50 Ultra is said to provide a 2K OLED display. The device screen will probably have 120Hz refresh rate support. It is also said to provide support for Dolby Vision.
