Screenshots of Android 13 Tiramisu leaked, highlighting major changes coming to Android

Android 13 will still be visible on most smartphones, however we may already be starting to look at its next version.

Expected to be called Android Tiramisu, Android 13 is likely to enter its first round of developer testing in February next year, if Google follows its annual timeline. Before that, the new report highlights some of the new features we can expect to see in it.

The report came from XDA Developers, who managed to get some Android 13 screenshots from the source and “access to the original version of Android 13.”

Screenshots show a total of four new features in the next version of Android, including one that means improving the performance of the smartphone via the OS. Here’s a look at these features in more detail.

No more annoying notifications

Android 13’s may allow you to take a few deep breaths from the app notifications on your phone. One of the screenshots shows a new option to control app notifications on Android 13.

The option appears under the Permissions manager, which is stored within the phone’s Privacy settings. The section also allows you to manage local access and microphones as well as access to media files in applications.

This also means that we can see a pop-up of every app on Android 13 asking you if you would like notifications from it or not.

It will be the same as the applications that request you for “storage access” or other such permissions when used for the first time.

Divide languages into application

More and more multilingual users are joining the Android ecosystem on a daily basis and, as a result, Google has seen the need to offer additional language options to its users. With Android 13, people can choose their favorite language in each app.

In this case, Google appears to have added a new “App Language” section to the System settings. Application Language displays all languages supported by an application.

Users can then choose to use these apps in any of the languages they want. This means you can use your Facebook app in Hindi, while your entire phone is still running in English.

New layout on lock screen

With Android 13, users will be able to change the clock layout on the lock screen. From now on, the clock is displayed in the center of the lock screen but goes up when notification arrives. Once the notifications have been cleared, the clock takes center stage again.

On Android 13, users will have the option of permanently keeping the clock on top of the display with a single line format.

As users have been requesting this feature, we may see it in Android 12L designed for folding smartphones, even before Android 13.

TARE: Android Resource Economy

Aside from the specific features that users can choose to turn on or off, Android 13 may also come with a standard power management feature on the phone. This feature is expected to be part of “TARE”, a future Google feature representing “Android Resource Economy”.

The feature applies to AlarmManager and JobScheduler, and will likely restrict certain uses of their applications. These limitations will be based on battery level and application requirements.

We will know more about these and other features in the future, as more and more Android 13 builds are made public.
