Organize online exams, don’t postpone: College students to the government of Tripura

Agartala: Three days after Tripura’s education department ordered the postponement of public university exams, which were previously scheduled to take place online from September 6, students on Thursday filed a memorandum with the director of higher education to withdraw the decision.

The latest order came following the decision to reopen educational institutions amid a reduction in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state.

College students in various districts, including Women’s College, Bir Bikram Memorial College in Agartala, on Thursday submitted a memorandum demanding to withdraw the decision to cancel online exams and continue with the previously announced schedule.

Students demonstrating in front of the education directorate in the Agartala office area said they had already lost a year due to the pandemic.

“The Tripura government has decided to cancel online exams and organize offline exams. However, higher education institutions outside of Tripura state take online exams at the scheduled time for university admission, ”the students said.

Tripura University will not be able to provide higher education opportunities to all students in the state as there is no admission rule for all students. So, many have to prepare for external state admissions. But now, if offline examinations are conducted and that too at a later date, the deadline for admission to outside states will be over by then, the students said.
