JioPhone Next Quick Review: A basic entry-level smartphone with an amazing camera

JioPhone Next should be the cheapest 4G smartphone in the world. Whether it exists or not, is still under discussion. Jio has come up with an ‘easy financial’ plan that allows you to own this device for Rs 1,999 and pay off the rest with monthly EMIs.

If you want to skip this latest, you can pay Rs 6,499 in advance and become a handset owner. First impression – not as disturbing as the first JioPhone which cost Rs 1,500 (reversed by device exchange).

However, there are a few reasons to be happy with JioPhone Next. One of your Reliance and Google collaborations for custom PragatiOS based on Android 11 Go.

Obviously this is a phone for those who are still using the phone feature and want a great screen experience. However, should entry level customers consider JioPhone Next?

I spent a few hours with the device and here’s what I think.

JioPhone Next Instant Update: Inside the Box

Reliance has kept things simple here. You get a JioPhone Next, a 5W charging adapter and a microUSB charging cable inside the box, as well as a warranty card and a user guide.

There are no protective case or earphones inside the box. Yes, the battery also comes separately and should be installed manually.

JioPhone Next Quick Update: Design and Build

In one simple line – JioPhone Next is built as a feature screen with a large screen. It reminds you of first-generation smartphones that are lightweight, green and durable (only in the back).

The back panel is made of plastic and cannot withstand fingerprints. It has a story coating, Jio logo and a speaker grille below. The green color looks good.

The phone is very simple and easy to hold. There is a touch of nostalgia too. You can open the back panel and remove the battery. There is also a dedicated MicroSD card slot that supports up to 512GB of expandable storage.

JioPhone Quick Update Next: Performance and Experience
The JioPhone Next features a 5.4-inch HD + front display with dense bezels all around.

The display is great for everyday use and live streaming content. Protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Anyone from feature phone can enjoy the size and quality of the phone. The visuals look great on the screen. It should have been brighter. Current light levels make the phone difficult to use outside.

You get a 13-megapixel camera on the back and an 8-megapixel sensor on the front. In fact, the performance of the camera surprised me.

I didn’t expect JioPhone Next to bring the kind of photos it did. Yes, I have undermined the value of Google’s partnership. Photos taken in sunlight with both the rear and front camera look great.

JioPhone Quick Update: A Basic Entry-Level Smartphone

Vertical images also come out sharp, or edge detection is off. Photos may not be sharp in low light but overall, JioPhone Next performs well for the price.

You also get the translation option within the camera app and a few Snapchat lenses.

A function that will leave you asking for more. The combination of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 215 processor and 2GB of RAM is not enough for just a seamless experience.

The UI is soft even for normal use. Multitasking is obviously not JioPhone Next’s forte and is by no means a gaming device. The smartphone runs on Pragati OS based on Android 11 GO.

Gives you stock near Android. There are very few pre-installed apps – mostly from Google and Jio.

Nice to see Jio pack a 3500 mAh battery on the JioPhone Next. This is combined with a 5W charger inside the box. The phone comes with a microUSB port, which is convenient for the price.

It is very close to commenting on the battery and I will be able to talk about it in more detail in our full review.

JioPhone Next Instant Update: Initial Appearance

JioPhone Next is not the most affordable 4G smartphone in the world. TIME. I would not recommend that you spend Rs 6,499 directly on this device.

However, there are many people who want smartphone information but can spend less money at a time.

For them, the next JioPhone could be a good option for Rs 1,999 with an option to pay in the remaining 18 or 24 months with simple EMI.

It has a nice design, is easy to use and the camera is really amazing. Stay tuned for the full India Today Tech update for JioPhone Next
