Indian Ambassador Meets Taliban Leader: Amid the evolving situation in Afghanistan, for the first time, there was an official meeting between India and the Taliban in Doha on Tuesday. During this period, many issues, including the safety of the Indians trapped in Afghanistan, were discussed between the two. This information was provided by the Government of India. The Foreign Ministry said Indian envoy to Qatar Deepak Mittal appealed to Taliban leader S. Met Abbas Stanikzai. Meanwhile, security, the early return of Indians from Afghanistan were discussed.

The Foreign Ministry said the meeting took place at the Indian Embassy in Doha following a request from the Taliban. There was a discussion between the two about the Indians trapped in Afghanistan. Along with this, the safety of Indians was also discussed.

The Foreign Office (Indian Ambassador) further said the discussion focused on the safety and immediate return of Indian citizens trapped in that Afghanistan. Afghan citizens, especially minorities, who wish to come to India, were also discussed. Indian Ambassador Mittal also raised the issue of not using Afghan soil against India.

He said any activity supporting terrorism in any way should not be supported from Afghan soil. The Foreign Ministry said the Taliban leader assured Indian Ambassador Mittal that the issue would be resolved in a positive way.

Significantly, US troops from Afghanistan have already left Kabul before the August 31 deadline. Afghanistan has been completely occupied by the Taliban. In such a situation, many such issues arise, including the safe return of Indians, which the government is very serious about.
