HP, Dell dominates Indian PC market in 2021: IDC report

India’s PC HP market saw strong sales in 2021 with 44.5 percent annual growth (YoY) growth, according to a recent International Data Corporation (IDC) report.

It says the notebook category was the largest in terms of volume as 11.6 million units were sent last year. The desktop segment, which saw a significant decline in 2020, also saw a 30 percent increase in YoY growth.

This was driven by a strong demand in the Education and VLE sector. By 2021, the PC market was dominated by HP, followed by Dell and Lenovo.

The report states that HP maintained its top position in the PC market with a market share of 31.5 percent. Its exports grew by 58.7 percent YoY to CY2021 as it shipped 1.3 million units.

The IDC says a strong demand coupled with stable materials has helped the product maintain its top position in the Indian PC market.

Following this, MD Ketan Patel of HP India said, “The PC industry is going through a huge cycle due to strong growth driven mainly by hybrid work, digital education, gig staff and part of the game.

With our focus on data-driven innovation, we are confident that we will always focus on providing our customers with the best offerings and improving their computer skills even further. ”

Dell managed to secure second place with a market share of 25.6 percent and a YoY growth of 47 percent in CY2021. Lenovo is currently in third place with a 17.4 percent share.

The company has seen some growth, but defective goods have had a significant impact on its overall exports, according to the report. The IDC says the demand for PCs may not be as high as we have seen over the past two years.

Navkendar Singh, Director of Research, Consumer Devices, IDC India said, “The market has seen an unprecedented demand for PCs in the last two years in both commercial and consumer sectors, but demand is expected to soften by 2022.

Although digital and remote operation is expected. being the main explosives for SMEs and business units, the shortage of components, supply challenges, and rising prices may continue to have a negative impact on government and education sectors, leading to further delays in projects. “

“We may also see some trend for new retailers in the consumer segment as goods start to improve in the second half of the year,” he added.
