During the COVID-19 Pandemic Railways lost Rs 36,000 cr

Union Minister Raosaheb Danve on Sunday said trains had lost $ 36,000 during the coronavirus pandemic, and called freight trains as real producers of transport in the country.

He also said a bullet train project would be built near the Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway, which is currently under construction.

The Minister of State for Railways was speaking at the laying of the foundation stone at the Jalna railway station.

“Part of the passenger train is always lost. As the increase in ticket prices affects passengers, we will not be able to do that. During the outbreak, the train lost Rs 36,000,” he said.

“Only freight trains bring in revenue. During the crisis, these trains have played an important role in freight management and humanitarian assistance,” the minister said.

Speaking about the bullet train, he said the project would be launched on the Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway as needed by the people.

The trains have used the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor project, which will link Navi Mumbai to Delhi, Danve said.
He confirmed the repeatability of the tracks between the Nanded and Manmad stations, and said he would look into whether the Jalna-Khamgaon railway could work or not.

Beating those who insulted him, Danve said he was attacked everywhere. “But I am strong after facing criticism,” he said.
Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope, who was also present at the event, said the government had given Jalna Hospital permission to treat those suffering from mental illness. He said the center would benefit Marathwada district.
