About a year after Gulabo Sitabo (2020), Amitabh Bachchan returned with a mysterious joy, Chehre. The veteran actor has deeply invested in this work directed at Rumy Jafry – megastar not only designs its look that includes a beanie, dense frames and a beard in a horse’s den, but also a 14-minute monologue over two days. Taking his involvement with Emraan Hashmi-starrer one step further, Bachchan has decided to support the film.
“Usually, the producer arouses the interest in making a film, [thus putting the ball rolling in the project]. The producer then uses the strings for the writer and director, when the actors and staff are finished, and then the announcement. But for Chehre, it was the opposite, ”said co-producer Anand Pandit. “The producers were the last to get on board.”
Pandit recalls receiving a call from Bachchan, who said that he should consider supporting the upcoming project. “Bachchan saab believed in this film. There was already a director, a writer, and now, the film needed a producer, ”explains Pandit, a former collaborator with Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar 3 (2017). “That’s how I came in as a producer, with Saraswati Entertainment, which is a brand of Bachchan saab. He produces a film after a long time. “The movie marks the return of Big B to production after the release of R Balki in 2015, Shamitabh.
The producer actor, who plays the official eagle in the film, has played the role of Pink (2016) co-star actor Dhritiman Chatterjee in a very important role. “He was determined to imitate her, as he wanted someone who had never made many Hindi films,” Pandit commented, adding that the movie saw Bachchan and Hashmi meet for the first time. As long as Chehre prepares to hit the screens a year after his intended release, a fellow producer is confident of his prospects. “Bachchan saab’s account of his deep baritone will be paramount. We applauded him for standing up after the shooting, ”he said.
