All Afghan nationals must travel to India only with an e-Visa: MHA

Owing to the prevailing security situation in Afghanistan and streamlining of the visa process by the introduction of an e-Emergency X-Misc visa, it has been decided that Afghan nationals must travel only on e-Visa.

New Delhi: The Interior Ministry announced on Wednesday that all Afghan nationals must travel to India only with an e-Visa. In an official statement released today, the Center said that due to the prevailing security situation in Afghanistan and the streamlining of the visa process through the introduction of the e-Emergency X-Misc visa, it was decided that all Afghan nationals must now travel to India. only on e-Visa.

In view of some reports that some passports of Afghan nationals have been misplaced, visas previously issued to all Afghan nationals, who are currently not in India, are invalidated with immediate effect, the Indian government said.

Earlier this month, the Home Office announced a new category of electronic visas to speed up visa applications for Afghans wishing to come to India.

Afghan nationals wishing to travel to India can apply for an e-Visa at www.indianvisaonline.gov.in

The announcement came two days after the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan. Since the regime change, several Indian citizens and Afghan nationals residing here have asked the Indian government to help evacuate their families and loved ones stranded in Afghanistan.
