IPhone SE 5G (2022) vs iPhone SE 2020: Indian price, texture and significant differences explained

The Apple iPhone SE 5G has been launched in India and comes with an initial price of Rs 43,900. Its processor was also made available for the same price in the country.

It is a small improvement over the iPhone SE 2020 as both smartphones have almost the same specifications. While the old version currently sells for Rs 29,999, the new iPhone SE 5G will cost more than Rs 40,000 in the country.

The iPhone SE (2022) is currently the cheapest 5G iPhone from Apple. If you are confused between the new and older versions of the iPhone SE, you can check out the key differences below for more clarity on these devices.

IPhone SE 5G (2022) vs iPhone SE 2020: Price in India

The new iPhone SE 5G is priced at Rs 42,900 in India with the latest 64GB model. The 128GB version will cost Rs 48,900, while the 256GB version will sell for Rs 58,900. Apple’s online store offers both trading offers and EMI options.

The company has abandoned the 2020 model for this device, although Flipkart still sells it for Rs 29,999.

IPhone SE 5G vs iPhone SE 2020: Significant differences explained Design

There is no difference in the design department. Apple decided to offer the same old design as we saw on the iPhone SE 2020 and iPhone 8.

Although most Android smartphones offer large notch-shaped displays, Apple opted for the older design. So, you get an ultra-compact display with a chunky bezel and a single rear camera.

Fingerprint sensor is built into the visible home button, located on the floor. No Infrared Face ID feature is available on some iPhones. Apple also dropped a 3.5mm headphone jack, which was also missing from the 2020 model.

Both devices have Aerospace-grade aluminum glass on the back. The good news is that there is still IP67 support for dust and water resistance.

The iPhone SE 3 still has a 4.7-inch wide LCD IPS display supported by 625nits high brightness, P3 wide color gamut, and haptic touch. The panel works at 1334 x 750 pixels resolution.

Processor, software, speakers, camera

One of the key selling points of the iPhone SE 5G is the new A15 chip used by the more expensive iPhone 13 models as well. Both of these devices have stereo playback and are running on iOS 15.

With the iPhone SE 5G, you still get the same camera setup, but the new one has some additional features that you don’t get with the old version.

It now incorporates features for photography such as Smart HDR 4, photo styles, portrait mode, and Deep Fusion. The latter uses machine learning to provide better shots with more detail.

The 5G version has an improved image signal processor that the A15 Bionic chip has. Apple says users will get improved videos with reduced audio in low light.

There is a 12-megapixel wide-angle rear camera supported by Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and up to 5x digital zoom. Previously, Apple installed the same 7-megapixel camera. Both rear-view cameras are supported by night mode.

Battery, fast charging, charger

Apple does not send the adapter or earphone in the box and only connects the USB-C cable to the power cable, according to the official website. So, if you already have a power adapter, that’s fine.

Apple says one can buy a 20W charger, which can charge up to 50 percent in about 30 minutes. With the iPhone SE 2020, the company only sends 5W chargers to the box.

As usual, Apple did not disclose the battery capacity, but said the new version would provide better battery life. It is promising that the new iPhone SE 5G will be able to last up to 15 hours, which is two hours longer than the 2020 model. Compatible with certified Qi chargers for wireless charging and fast charging.
