PUBG Esports competitions banned in China: Sport Not Allowed by National Press and Publication Administration

It looks like PUBG Esports in China has hit the road, as the Chinese National Press and Publication (NAPP) has not yet approved the game.

The reason for the ban was explained in detail by Yibo Zhang, Vice President of the China Culture Management Association’s Sports Committee, who simply stated that the ban was a result of PUBG not being approved by NAPP.

Only the side of things will be closed in China, and PUBG will still be available to game viewers to enjoy and play.

This comes in the wake of another controversial decision, to fight gambling by the Chinese government, as recently passed a law limiting online gambling for minors three hours a week.

This is mainly about the news of PUBG groups and organizations in China and perhaps even streamers, and other content creators.

PUBG esports competitions banned in China

While the game itself may be played in China, the ban on esports could have far-reaching effects on content creators, as well as future streaming platforms.

The Chinese government has been very active in its fight against online sports, as evidenced by the law imposed during the weekly children’s games, and the ban on PUBG sports, which may be one of the biggest sports in the country, cannot be properly attributed to the largest number of athletes in the country.

Surprisingly, a version of the game in China, called Peacekeeper Elite, published by Tencent, was not affected by the ban.

China, as one of the most populous countries in the world, naturally has a large number of professional esports players, content creators, and esports teams, of which PUBG is an excellent source of revenue.

These bans should not go down well with these teams and gamers as a whole, and it will be interesting to see how the public reacts to the ban.
