NASA has shared a beautiful picture of the Lagoon Nebula, a large blue cloud of gas and dust where the stars are currently building.
The image contained thousands of stars, or flames, as bright as dots on a large black cloth.
The Lagoon Nebula, also known as the NGC 6523 or Messier 8, is located at about 4,400 light years across the Milky Way galaxy.
The Chandra X-Ray Observatory of Space, a telescope designed to detect X-ray radiation in the hottest regions of the universe, was discovered during the largest X-ray observatory study ever performed on X-rays.
In an Instagram post, NASA said the study included about 24,000 stars in 40 different regions.
He also added that research conducted by the Chandra X-ray Observatory will help scientists understand the link between strong eruptions or explosions of young stars and the potential impact on planets in their orbits.
Emphasizing the importance of similar findings, NASA said scientists have argued over the past two decades that these massive flames could help future stars build gas by drifting away from the discs of matter around them.
“This could lead to the formation of small boulders and other objects which is an important step in the formation of planets,” it said.
But these flames can also damage the already established planets by blasting them with powerful rays.
The discovery has left more than seven lakh Instagram users in awe who shared their appreciation for the photo. Several of them also left comments.
