Weather Update: Heavy Rains Expected in Northeastern States, Orange Alert Issued Till Tomorrow

North-East Climate Change: With heavy rains expected in many northeastern provinces, the Indian State Department (IMD) on Monday issued an orange warning warning in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on March 30-31. According to forecasts, rain and thunderstorms are likely to occur in the northeastern states in the next two days. In addition, the IMD also predicted very wet spell in northeastern India until April 2.
In a statement, the IMD said that under the influence of the south and west winds from the Bay of Bengal, widespread storms and thunderstorms in isolated areas of India’s most populous northeast on March 29-April 2 with heavy activity on March 30-31.
It also added that heavy rains separated on March 29 and April 1 and separated heavy rains on March 30 and 31 are most likely south of Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram. Heavy rains are likely to occur in Arunachal Pradesh on April 1.
“It could cause landslides and landslides in some areas south of Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram on March 30 April 1,” IMD said.

As a result of this climate change, local road floods, low-lying water and the closure of underground roads especially in urban areas are expected south of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura from March 29 to April 1.

The IMD also added that there may be occasional decrease in visibility due to heavy rainfall, traffic congestion due to flooding on the roads leading to increased travel time, minor road damage and landslides made in the area, mud.
