Virat Kohli asks BCCI to skip ODI series against South Africa: Report

New Delhi: Indian batsman Virat Kohli will not be seen playing in the ODI series against South Africa (SA) according to the sources. Kohli requested a break from BCCI in January for personal reasons. If his request is granted, Team India’s woes in the ODI series against South Africa could increase.

Earlier on Monday, BCCI informed that Rohit Sharma, the new ODI captain, was injured and would not play in the Test series against South Africa.

Kohli wants to spend time with his family

According to a Times of India report, Virat Kohli has requested time off because he wants to spend time with his family in January. It just means he won’t be able to play in the ODI series.

Rohit Sharma will take over ODI

BCCI recently removed Virat Kohli from the post of ODI captain, after Kohli announced his departure from the T20I captain’s post earlier, after which Mumbai-based opener Rohit Sharma was appointed the new captain of the T20I. the Indian team.

Rohit is due to take over the ODI team on the South Africa tour, but his injury before the Test Series poses questions for the Indian team.

BCCI has yet to announce the ODI team for the South Africa tour. If BCCI grants Virat Kohli leave, it will be interesting to see which player is included in the squad in his place.
