Vijay Rupani Resignation : Amid unexpected political developments in Gujarat, Vijay Rupani on Saturday submitted his resignation as chief minister to Governor Devvrat Acharya in Raj Bhavan. After resigning, Vijay Rupani told reporters that he thanked the leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for giving him the opportunity to serve as chief minister.
Last month, the 5-year term ended.
He avoided questions about a brutal resignation and said he had been chief minister for five years, which is a very long time. He further stated that it was normal at BJP. Rupani said he would continue his work under the leadership of the BJP’s national president. He said that over the past five years people have had constant faith in BJP.
Significantly, Vijay Rupani was appointed Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2016 in place of Anandiben Patel. Five years of his tenure were completed just last month. However, it is not yet clear who will be the next chief minister of the state. Many names including Purushottam Rupala, Mansukh Mandaviya appear in the CM race.
Why did Rupani resign?
