Uttar Pradesh declares 24 districts ‘Corona Free’, Active Covid cases continue to Decline

The count of active cases in Uttar Pradesh has fallen to just 239. Its 99% drop since April 30, when it peaked at 3,10,783 cases. Around 24 districts have been declared free from Covid-19 and a recovery rate of 98.7% has been claimed.

Active cases were reduced to zero in Aligarh, Amethi, Ayodhya, Baghpat, Balia, Banda, Basti, Bijnor, Chitrakoot, Deoria, Fatehpur, Ghazipur, Gonda, Hamirpur, Hardoi, Hathras, Lalitpur, Mahoba, Mau, Muzaffarnagar, Pilibhit, Rampur, Shamli, and Sitapur.

Meanwhile, none of the UP’s 75 districts have reported new double-digit cases of coronavirus infection in recent times.

Up to 64 districts have reported no cases of Covid-19 infection in the past 24 hours, while the remaining 11 districts have reported new single-digit cases.

The UP government has worked incrementally to control the spread of Covid-19 with a multi-pronged ‘Trace, Test & Treat’ approach, vaccination, and partial curfews.

The positivity rate also fell to 0.01%, the lowest in the country.

Of 237,439 samples tested in the past 24 hours, 18 tested positive. During the same period, 21 other patients recovered from the infection.

Uttar Pradesh has restricted the daily-case count below 100 for nearly 54 consecutive days.
