Uttar Pradesh Board 10th exam cancelled, 12th exam to be held in July

Uttar Pradesh Board has canceled 10th board exams. More than 29 lakh students enrolled in class 10th will be promoted to class 11 without exams. Although the detailed assessment criteria have not yet been announced, it was expected that students will be assessed based on internal marks including student performance on pre-board 10th class, as well as activities.

There are concerns about 10th graders who failed the Grade 10 exams last year and who are re-enrolling this year. There are about four lakhs of such students. As students of last year, they have not appeared on previous boards this year. There is uncertainty as to how the board will evaluate these students.

In addition, the Uttar Pradesh Board will hold tests for 12th grade students in the second week of July. For Grade 12 or UP Board Intermediate students, the board has decided to change the test pattern. UP Board class 10 students will be required to answer only three of the ten questions asked. Test time will be reduced from 3 hours to 90 minutes.

This was one of the ways in which the government was holding back the exams. At a meeting chaired by Union Minister of Defense Rajnath Singh, it was suggested that the boards could hold exams for all subjects but reduce the reduced time of 1 hour 30 minutes per paper or hold only selected subject exams.

UP Board had already cut the syllabus by 30 per cent.

Regarding the class 12 exams, deputy provincial premier Dinesh Sharma in charge of the education portfolio said the UP Board is ready to take the exams and plans to conduct the exams without any problems and announce the results within a month.

More than 56.03 lakh students have registered to appear in the UP Board 10, 12 board exams this year. In total, 26.09,501 students were required to appear in the 10th grade examinations and 31,47,793 students will have appeared in the 12th class examinations. The UP Board had planned to hold 12 class exams from April 24 which were postponed due to the UP Panchayat election. The test was postponed at least twice.
