US-India Defense Show: Officials Focus on Securing Supply Chain in Critical Sectors

US-India Defense Show: With a view to secure supply chains in critical sectors like the semiconductor industry, senior officials of the US and India attended the Defence Industry Collaboration Forum (DICF)  Virtual Expo on Monday, according to Pentagon.

The exhibition was co-chaired by Jesse Salazar, Assistant Under Secretary of Defense (DASD) for Industrial Policy and Anurag Bajpai, Co-Secretary (Defense Industries), the Penatgon said. The exhibit was held on Monday in partnership with the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) and the Society of Indian Defense Manufacturers (SIDM), according to PTI.

In the opening speech, Gregory Kausner, serving as Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment, said DASD Salazar had been joined in the discussion by Michael Vaccaro, Acting Executive Director, International cooperation, and senior executives of companies from both countries.

What is the goal of DICF?

The DICF, a major component of the US-India Technology and Trade Initiative (DTTI), aims to deepen industrial cooperation between two countries by identifying opportunities for joint research, development and production of combat capabilities. The latest DICF virtual exhibition focused on securing supply chains in critical industries.

The November 8 DICF virtual exhibition focused on securing supply chains in critical industries such as semiconductors and partnerships for innovation in emerging areas such as artificial intelligence and technology. ‘space,’ Department of Defense spokeswoman Jessica Maxwell said at the meeting.

In October, the armies of the two countries conducted a 14-day joint training exercise at Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson in Alaska. The two countries have also signed key defense and security pacts in recent years, including the Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Understanding (LEMOA) in 2016 which allows their military to use each other’s bases. for repair and replenishment of supplies as well as provides for a deeper cooperation.
