UPTET 2021 paper leak accused Gaurav Kumar arrested from Aligarh, 34 detained so far

UPTET 2021 Paper Leak: Another accused was arrested in connection with the 2021 Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) paper leak. Aligarh’s Gaurav Kumar, who was allegedly involved in the newspaper leak and the questionnaire sale, was arrested by the UP special working group. A total of 34 defendants have been arrested in the case so far, said Prashant Kumar, Deputy Director-General of Police (ADG), Law and Order.

According to the STF, the suspects sold the questionnaire for Rs 4 lakh while in some places it was sold for Rs 1 lakh rupees. The police also identified the places where photocopies of these papers were taken.

Up to 29 suspects were arrested earlier, including four from Lucknow, three from Meerut, two from Varanasi and Gorakhpur each, one from Kaushambi, and 13 from Prayagraj. Along with Gaurav, the police arrested Rahul from Baghpat. Apart from that, Ravi, Dharmendra, and Manish of Shamli were arrested. They had confessed to having bought brochures from Gaurav de Mathura.

Police also recovered suspects’ cell phones and other important documents. The STF carried out raids in several districts, including Prayagraj, Meerut, Jhansi, Noida, Baghpat, Shamli, Varanasi, and Kaushambi, and questioned three other people in Lucknow.

UPTET 2021 was scheduled to be held on November 28, but was later canceled after the questions document was found floating around several WhatsApp groups in the state. The state government will likely conduct a review on December 26. Anamika Singh, secretary of the Department of Basic Education, said the new date for TET has not yet been decided. More than 19 lakh candidates had registered for the exam this time.

Meanwhile, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the review would proceed “transparently” and within a month. their admission cards.
