UPSC ESE: Students press for postponement of exam

UPSC ESE- NEW DELHI: Following the current situation due to the second wave of the COVID 19 pandemic, the majority of students planning to take the UPSE Engineering Services exam have requested a postponement. The 2021 ESE exam is scheduled to take place on July 18. The students expressed their anguish on Twitter as they thought it would not be appropriate for them to take the 2021 ESE exam if they had not been vaccinated.
Today, the microblogging site was buzzing with “# PostponeESE2021”. The main objective of this campaign is to get UPSC to take swift action regarding the postponement of the exam. Previously, due to the COVID 19 pandemic, UPSC postponed the UPSC Civil Service Preliminary Exam which was scheduled to take place on June 28. Following the postponement of important exams organized by the UPSC, the demand by students grew when thousands of students requested the postponement of the ESE exam.

Some students have also asked authorities to postpone the UPSE ESE exam as some of them are recovering from COVID 19.

According to the UPSE ESE exam, the preliminary exam will last a total of five hours during which candidates will appear in two documents. The first test which will cover general studies and engineering aptitude is two hours and the maximum mark is 200 while test 2 will be three hours and it would be 300 marks. Applicants will be required to answer multiple choice questions on the ESE 2021 exam. For each question, four options would be offered. In the event that the candidate answers the question incorrectly, then he will lose one third of the total points awarded for that particular question. If he did not answer the question at all, he would not lose any notes. However, if the candidate selects more than one option while taking the ESE exam, he will lose points. In the main exam there are two tests of three hours each and each test of the SEA is worth 300 points each. The ESE 2021 exam is likely to be held in 15 cities in different parts of India and around three lakh candidates will take the exam.
