UP Election 2022: Surat Textile Traders Join Poll Campaign with 3D Printed Modi, Yogi Sarees

UP Election 2022: In a first courtesy of the ban on physical gatherings in poll-linked states due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the election campaign in politically crucial Uttar Pradesh has given a boost to the saree activity in the Surat textile market in Gujarat.

The sari, featuring the BJP flag, also bears the written Hindi slogan “Jo Ram Ko Laaye Hain Hum Unhein Layenge UP Mein Hum Phir Se Bhagwa Layenge” while referring to the construction of the Ram Janmabhhomi temple in Ayodhya.

The fabric merchant has also made fabric with prints of Ram Mandir, different Varanasi ghats, and Kashi Vishwanath corridor on these unique sarees, which are in high demand among BJP workers in the run-up to high-tension elections. of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly.

The intention of the saffron party workers is to distribute these sarees to women to wear the cloth and boost the BJP election campaign in Uttar Pradesh.

In the same vein, traders in Surat plan to send these sarees in bulk to Uttar Pradesh ahead of the assembly elections.

The photos were shared on social media as well as with traders in UP, to which they got a “good response”, following which they started producing the saris in bulk. “We printed the samples on crepe saris, the cost per piece that comes to Rs 600. We made four samples with different designs and shared the images on social media. We got a good response and started receiving orders from traders in UP,” said Sharma.

Cost is a factor, he said, adding, “We plan to have it printed on a cheaper fabric grade to reduce the cost per piece from Rs 150 to Rs 200 and get bulk orders from BJP candidates. “

On the reason for such a move, Kumar said, “The UP election is a hotly discussed topic among textile traders in Surat who are already supplying sarees to various markets in UP.”

Pointing out that an order of 5,000 sarees can take about six days to print, Kumar added, “Current orders are
for Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Lucknow.

Voting for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, which has 403 members, will take place in seven phases from February 10 to March 7.

Voting will take place in 58 assembly seats in the first phase on February 10. It will be followed by a second phase of voting on 55 seats on February 14.

In the third phase on February 20, 59 seats in the Assembly will go to the polls, while 60 seats will go to the polls in the fourth phase on February 23.

Polling will be held on 60 fifth-stage assembly seats on Feb. 27, 57 sixth-stage seats on March 3, and 54 seventh-stage seats on March 7.

The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
