UP: 7 Drown While Bathing After Holi Celebrations in Deoria & Fatehpur

Lucknow: Seven people drowned in Uttar Pradesh during a bath after celebrating Holi on Monday, officials said. Five of them – a teenager and four men – drowned in the Deoria region and two men drowned in Fatehpur. 7 Drown While Bathing
According to a police spokesperson, three people – Amit Pandey (15), Krishna (20) and Kush Yadav (23) – drowned while bathing in the Chhoti Gandak River in Salempur Kotwali and Butni police stations in the Deoria region.
Anurag (22) drowned in the Saryu River in the Barhaj police station area and Anil Prasad, 30, in a lake in the region, a police spokesman said. 7 Drown While Bathing
The incident happened at around 3.30pm in Bhida village, said Hussainganj Station House (SHO) manager Ranveer Bahadur Singh.

He said Alok Gupta (21), Ritik Umrav (16), Amit Kumar (18) and Raghav (20) – all residents of Fatehpur – were taking a bath. They started drowning, SHO said.
The sailors, after hearing the screams, pulled Alok, Ritik and Amit out of the water and took them to the hospital. Alok and Ritik were pronounced dead at the scene, and Amit’s condition was critical, police said. 7 Drown While Bathing

SHO said Raghav was missing and efforts were underway to trace him. He also said the bodies had been sent for autopsy.
