Union Minister Anurag Thakur launches Fit India mobile app on National Sports Day

Fit India mobile app: Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur today launched the Fit India mobile app on the occasion of the second anniversary of the Fit India program. The app provides personal training and fitness advice to users.

Anurag Thakur said the app is a government gift to the Indian people on National Sports Day. National Sports Day is celebrated on the birthday of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand.

“The Fit India app is a tribute to Major Dhyan Chand, who is a legend for the sportsmen of the country,” Thakur said at the event held at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium.

India’s captain of the men’s hockey team, Manpreet Singh, who recently won a bronze medal at the recent Olympic Games in Tokyo, was a virtual participant in the program.

“The app is essential for players to stay in shape and they are expected to follow it strictly,” the sports minister said. “This is an attempt to keep young India in good shape. Because only a fit young person can make India great,” he said.

Manpreet Singh said, “We don’t give enough importance to fitness”. “We at least need to dedicate just half an hour of our time in a day to fitness. This app is fun and free and anyone can test and monitor their fitness anywhere,” he added.

Manpreet further stated that “This app is very helpful and easy to use I have already been using it for some time and I hope it will help me further improve my fitness”.

MoS Nisith Pramanik, Sports Secretary Ravi Mittal, Director General Sports Authority of India Sandeep Pradhan, and other dignitaries also attended this event.
