Three Batters Who Can Start A Bidding War In IPL 2022 Mega Auction

New Delhi: The retention process for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season has been completed and all eight existing teams have made their retentions. Many star players have been retained by the teams, but some big names have the potential to start a bidding war at the IPL 2022 mega auction.

The two new IPL teams Lucknow and Ahmedabad can choose a maximum of 3 players before the auction. Here are the names of three unsuccessful hitters who could start a bidding war at the upcoming IPL 15 auction.

  1. David Warner: The Aussie fly-half, who was voted ‘player of the tournament’ in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, could take home a good sum at the IPL 2022 mega auction.

Warner, who couldn’t do anything special in the last 2 IPL seasons, was released by Sunrisers Hyderabad. Last year, the swashbuckler took his team to the final by batting brilliantly in every match at the T20 World Cup. Also in the final match, he scored 53 runs on 38 balls to help Australia win the T20 World Cup for the first time.

  1. Faf du Plessis: The 37-year-old South African batsman scored 633 runs in 16 games last season. He also made some amazing hitters in IPL 2020. Despite that, Chennai Super Kings didn’t retain him. There may be a bidding war between franchises to include this player in their respective team.
  2. Shikhar Dhawan: The senior fly-half has made an impact with his stick in every IPL season. He has scored over 500 points over the past three seasons. The Delhi Capitals did not retain Shikhar. There is a possibility of good bids for the 36-year-old in the auction. Dhawan has played 192 IPL matches so far. During this time he scored 5784 runs with 2 centuries and 44 half-centuries.
