The time for the government to understand that there is so much going on in life is image-building: Anupam Kher on Covid efforts

Actor Anupam Kher said it was important for the government to stand up and do the job for the people they elected. Anupam Kher said people have a right to complain, to be angry, and to feel helpless.

“But for another political party to use it to your advantage, I think that is also wrong. I think we should, as human beings, be angry. It is important to hold the government accountable. In some cases, they have not slipped. It’s time for them to realize that there is more to life than just creating images, ”he added.

“There are problems, pain, anger, frustration, that’s obvious… A lot of people say ‘You always have a lot of hope’, but I say there’s no other way out. Our lives have not been going well. It’s just that this situation has happened on a global scale,” Kher said.

Describing the situation in the world as a “war”, the actor said that people have a right to complain, to be angry, and to feel helpless, but it should not be limited to showing compassion to their fellow citizens.
“How can you comfort a person who has lost a family member because of a lack of oxygen, medical facilities, or beds? You can’t. But that doesn’t stop me… I lost my friend and went to the corona. I am still doing my job. ”

The actor has started Project Heal India to extend aid to the needy in the midst of the epidemic. He has worked with Dr. Ash Tewari, a urologist (chairman) at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, and Father Kalyani, managing director of Barat Forge Ltd.
Together, they have sent medical equipment, including oxygen concentrators and ventilators, to various hospitals in cities such as Mumbai, Kanpur, Delhi, Pune, and Ghazipur.

“I help the people, the people in pain. I help myself by helping others. That is a natural reaction to empathy. People have done all they can to help one another in times of war, floods, droughts, and earthquakes. It’s not the first time people have helped each other, ”he added.
