The Ola electric scooter factory has become the largest women plant in the world: Bhavish Aggarwal

Ola founder Bhavish Aggarwal on Monday said its scooter factory would be run by women only and employ more than 10,000 women on a full-time basis.

“Aatmanirbhar Bharat needs Aatmanirbhar women! Proud to share that Ola Futurefactory will be FULL managed by women, 10,000+ in full! It will be the largest factory in the world !! A smiley face,” she said in a tweet.

She has also used a video with a large number of women hired to work at the center.

In a blog post, Aggarwal said the company welcomed the first batch this week and “in total, Futurefactory will employ more than 10,000 women, making it the world’s largest women-only industry and the only car manufacturing facility in the world”.

This is the first in a series of efforts Ola is making to create an inclusive workforce and provide economic opportunities for women across the board, he added.

Aggarwal said the company has made a lot of money to train them and give them high performance skills and they will be responsible for all the production of all the cars made at Ola Futurefactory.

“Empowering women for economic opportunities has improved not only their lives but also their families and society as a whole. In fact, research shows that providing women with equal employment could increase India’s GDP by 27 percent,” she said.

She pointed out that in production, women’s participation remains at only 12 percent lower.

“For India to become a global manufacturing hub, we must prioritize raising and creating employment opportunities for our women,” Aggarwal said.

Ola had announced an investment of R2,400 million last year to establish the first power scooter in Tamil Nadu.

The company, known as the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer, said it would start with an annual production capacity of 10 lakh and measure up to 20 lakh, according to market requirements, in the first phase.

When fully completed, Ola Electric had said its plant would have an annual capacity of one crore unit, “15 percent of the total two-wheel drive” in the world.

The company, on August 15, introduced its Ola S1 electric scooter in two variants – S1 and S1 Pro – for Rs 99,999 and Rs 1,29,999, respectively (front exhibition room including FAME II funding and excluding funding government).
