The Goa government has canceled a film permit, shot by telephone

On Thursday the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) canceled all permits for film and television production in the province following the widespread COVID-19 epidemic. The ESG is a Goa government agency that has been mandated to authorize commercial shooting in the coastal country.

Several filmmakers and TV producers from Mumbai and Chennai recently transferred their shooting to Goa following an increase in COVID-19 cases in their areas, said ESG Deputy Chairman Shash Faldesai.

He said all permits issued for the filming of Goa films have been revoked until the COVID-19 status in government is regulated.”We will not allow any filming or television dramas in public or private areas,” he said.

All of those films currently filming and the Goa series have also been asked to strengthen their plans, Faldesai said. Falesia said the state government had imposed strict sanctions, including the imposition of Section 144 of the CrPC, which barred the gathering of five or more people in one place, because shooting could not be allowed.

The ESG will review its decision after the situation of COVID-19 is regulated, he said.
On Wednesday, Goa reported 3,496 new cases of COVID-19 and 71 deaths, taking the number of cases to 1,04,398 and the death toll to 1,443, according to official data.
