Tata IPL 2022: AB de Villiers set to return ?

Tata IPL 2022- Former South African captain and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) wicketkeeper AB de Villiers had announced his retirement from all forms of play after Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. However, at Tata IPL 2022 De Villiers is expected to return to the T20 league but in a new role.

At an event on Saturday March 12, Virat Kohli’s RCB will not only announce their new captain, but also reveal De Villiers in a “mentor” role for the franchise. According to the InsideSport website, Kohli himself asked De Villiers to join the coaching staff as a “mentor” after the Indian striker stepped down as team captain after the IPL 2021.

De Villiers scored 313 points in 15 games last season with two fifties and a 148.34 strike rate. In his entire IPL career, De Villiers scored 5,162 runs in 184 games at an average of 39.7 with a strike rate of 151.68 with 3 cents and 40 fifty.

The RCB are also expected to name De Villiers’ compatriot Faf du Plessis as the new captain for the IPL 2022. The RCB have called a press conference on March 12 at 4pm for the same.

In a tweet, the franchise said it would be celebrating the team’s fourteenth anniversary on March 12 at Museum Cross Road in Church Street.
