Sri Lanka Crisis: Sangakkara and Jacqueline reacted !

Sri Lanka Crisis- Actress Jacqueline Fernandez said on Monday the citizens of Sri Lanka needed sympathy and support amid the country’s worst economic crisis. Fernandez is a citizen of Sri Lanka. She wrote a post on Instagram praying for peace in his country. Sri Lanka is facing its worst economic crisis since its independence from Britain in 1948.

This is partly due to a shortage of foreign currency, which is used to pay for fuel imports. People have been unsettled for weeks due to long queues for fuel, cooking gas, shortages of essential items and hours of power cuts.

The actress wrote, “As a Sri Lankan, it’s very sad to see what my country and my people are going through. Since it started all over the world, a lot of thoughts come to my mind. I would say don’t rush to make decisions based on what’s shown and don’t vilify any group based on it.”

Fernandez said that the world and the people of my country do not need another decision, they need sympathy and support.

Sri Lanka is witnessing massive protests over the inability of the ruling Rajapaksa family to cope with the economic situation resulting from the currency crisis and balance of payments problems. People took to the streets and demanded the resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Following the protests, the president declared a state of emergency and a curfew was imposed across the country.

What did the cricketers say?

Former veteran batsmen Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara, who had many successes in Sri Lanka on a twenty-meter cricket pitch, have once again unitedly attacked the country’s politicians as the country faces its worst financial crisis.

Sangakkara, who acts as a mentor for the Rajasthan Royals, wrote on his Instagram page: “The people of Sri Lanka are facing one of the most difficult times. It is heartbreaking to see people and families distressed as they have to struggle even for daily life and it is getting harder and harder for them every day.”

He wrote: “People are raising their voices and demanding something that is needed a solution.” He said: “People are not enemies. What Sri Lanka needs is its people. Time is running out, people and their future must be saved.”

As people take to the streets and police use force to quell protests, Jayawardene wants leaders to admit their mistakes. Jayawardene wrote: “Sad to see the emergency and the curfew in Sri Lanka. The government cannot ignore the needs of people who have every right to protest. Detaining protesters is not acceptable and I am proud of the brave Sri Lankan lawyers who have come forward to defend them.

True leaders accept their mistake. It is necessary to take urgent measures to save the people of our country, everyone is together in difficult times. These problems were created by the people and they can be solved by the right competent people.”

Punjab Kings batsman Bhanuka Rajapaksa said: “I’m miles away but I can feel the displeasure of my Sri Lankan teammates because they have to fight for their daily needs.”
