SP Leader Azam Khan Condition Critical

SP Leader Azam Khan- NEW DELHI: Former Samajwadi Group leader Azam Khan, who was diagnosed with coronavirus is currently supported by oxygen and is in critical condition. In a health report released on Friday, Medanta Hospital, Lucknow said, “The situation of the Leader of the Majority Party, Khan Khan, is critical.
SP Leader Azam Khan was diagnosed with COVID19 on May 9 and has since been treated by a medical team. His son Abdullah Azam also contracted the deadly virus, however, he was tested and found to be free of it a few days back.
Azam Khan, his son and his wife Tazeen Fatma, were jailed in February last year on various charges.
The Allahabad High Court in December granted Tazeen Fatma bail in all 34 cases registered.

On May 2, prison officials tried to persuade Azam Khan to receive treatment in Lucknow at King George’s Medical University but the SP leader refused to leave the prison.

He was later reassured and taken to Medanta Hospital. Thirteen other inmates at the prison were also tested for COVID-19 after complaining of fever and cough.

Azam Khan (born 14 August 1948) is an Indian politician serving as the Member of Parliament from Rampur. He is one of the founding members of the Samajwadi Party and was a member of the Seventeenth Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh.
